Drug Description: It is a rare lung disorder in which the blood pressure in the pulmonary artery rises far above normal levels for no apparent reason. There are 500 to 1,000 estimated new cases each year. This condition can result in death. This condition may be linked to the ingestion of the popular diet drug in the late 1990′s called Fen Phen or Redux.

History:

American Home Products now called Wyeth manufactured Fen Phen diet drugs made of Pondimin and Phentermine which when combined were marketed as Redux. Use of these drugs increased your risk of Aortic and Mitral Valve heart damage. The FDA took the drug off the market in 1997. There was a nationwide settlement in which people who had heart damage were compensated for their injuries by a settlement grid or they could bring civil suit against the drug manufacturer. People who had PAP or PPH were not included in the settlement and thus if a person now has this serious health condition which may be related to the ingestion of these diet drugs, they can now bring a civil law suit for their damages.

Side Effect:

It can result in death. There is no known cure.
